Blessed Duns Scotus
Long before it was defined as a dogma, the doctrine of the Immaculate Conceptions was defended by Duns Scotus, a humble Franciscan, in a famous debate against the Dominicans. A staunch defender of the faith, Scotus was later exiled for defending the papacy.
