This Irish princess suffered terribly at the hands of her pagan father after the death of her Christian Mother. When her father could not find another as beautiful as his wife to marry, his wicked counsellors encouraged him to marry his own daughter. To avoid this, St. Dymphna fled for Belgium with her confessor. Her father pursued her, and she died at his hands for refusing to marry him.  Feastday: May 15
